SNELLVILLE - Authorities say a Snellville man has been charged with animal cruelty after being accused of putting a Rottweiler puppy in a microwave and then stabbing it with a kitchen knife.
Authorities say 41-year-old William Terrezz Stephens put the dog in the microwave twice for about ten seconds each time on Monday, then stabbed it in the side and dropped it to the floor. The dog was about seven weeks old.
A spokeswoman for the Gwinnett County Sheriff's Department says the puppy is recovering after being treated.
Deputies arrested Stephens Wednesday night in Lithonia.
He is charged with two counts of cruelty to animals, one count of burglary and one count of simple assault. He is being held without bond in the Gwinnett County Detention Center in Lawrenceville.
Police reports say Stephens put the puppy in the microwave while he was at a woman's house and removed it when it started to cry.
The reports say Stephens stabbed the dog and told the woman she would be next.
