MORELAND - A Coweta County woman says she had no idea she was breaking the law when she carried weapons into a secure airport area in Traverse City, Michigan.
Alice Annette Voils told WSB-TV Thursday that she was humiliated by the incident. Police say she tried to board a jet with three small knives, two box cutters, pepper spray and a half-pound rock.
She says it was her first time flying and that she had no idea about increased security measures at the airport following the terrorist attacks on September eleventh.
She spent two days in jail in Michigan before she was released on bond.
Voils said, ``I'm innocent. I'm not no terrorist. I'm not out here trying to kill nobody. I went through Atlanta ... I had no problem there.''
The station reports that the woman went to Michigan to see a man she had met on the Internet.
The Traverse City Record-Eagle reported that she passed through at least one checkpoint Tuesday at Cherry Capital Airport before screeners stopped her. She faces up to ten years in prison if convicted.
Voils told airport officials she had carried the items through security checkpoints at Hartsfield Atlanta International Airport.
Officials said the federal Transportation Security Administration will investigate that claim. The administration has been responsible for airline security since February 18.
