White House nominates James Roberts Jr. as U.S. marshal

The White House announced Tuesday that James Thomas Roberts Junior has been nominated as U.S. marshal for the Southern District of Georgia. <br>

The term is for four years. <br>
<br>
U.S. marshals are appointed by the president with duties that include overseeing deputies, handling prisoners and disbursing money, which include paying dues and expenses of court clerks, U.S. attorneys, jurors and witnesses. <br>
<br>
Roberts has been chairman of the Criminal Justice Department at Augusta Technical College in Augusta since 1998. He served in the U.S. Army from 1962 to 1990. <br>
<br>
Roberts is a graduate of Georgia Southern University in Statesboro.
