FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS - A high school basketball player from Florida who signed to become an Arkansas Razorback has asked for a release from his commitment.
Brandon Tobias, a 6-foot7 forward from Dillard High School at Fort Lauderdale, Fla., now wants to enroll at Alabama-Birmingham.
Former Arkansas assistant Mike Anderson was hired as head coach at UAB after he briefly served as interim head coach at Arkansas following Nolan Richardson's firing.
Tobias signed with Arkansas in November, when Richardson was still at the helm of the Razorback program, and Anderson was chief recruiter.
Anderson was interviewed for the head coaching job at Arkansas, but the post went instead to Stan Heath, who had been head coach at Kent State.
