COLUMBUS - Columbus authorities are investigating the apparent drowning death of a toddler whose body was found in a pond near a Columbus apartment complex. <br>

Authorities identified the child as Elias Warren Ikken, who would have been 2 years old next week. <br>

Police say the toddler wandered away from his home around 10 a.m. Wednesday while his mother was asleep. Columbus police Lieutenant Lem Miller says the boy had recently figured out how to unlock and open the door. <br>
<br>
He said the boy apparently walked out onto a peninsula that led into the pond, and slipped into it. <br>
<br>
Authorities say foul play is not suspected, but the case remains under investigation.
