Winder man arrested on multiple drug charges

By By Jeff Hart
WINDER - A year-long investigation by the Barrow County Sheriff's Office Crime Suppression Unit resulted in the arrest of a Winder man on multiple drug charges.

Adam Heard, 21, was arrested following a swift foot chase after he tried to sell crack cocaine at a Winder business.

"We got a tip from an informant that he was dealing cocaine so we investigated and were able to arrest him," Lt. Murray Kogod said.

Authorities had surveillance video of Heard while he was in the commission of the crime, Kogod said.

Heard's arrest followed a brief foot-chase.

"He saw us and took off running. We caught him after about a 200-yard chase with no problem," Kogod said.

He was found in possession of $15,000 worth of crack cocaine and nearly $1,500 in cash.

Kogod said more arrests connected to the case are anticipated.

"There are some others that will probably be arrested in connection with this case but we're working on that," Kogod said.
