BUFORD - A stretch of the Chattahoochee River could be redesignated from a secondary to a primary trout stream if its proven that baby trout can now reproduce.
State environmental regulators are expected to meet Monday to discuss the inch-long fish - called fry - and what they mean to the river.
If the fish warrant special protections, a 30-mile stretch Buford Dam at and Georgia 400 would be affected.
Any changes would require approval from the state DNR board. The EPA also would have to OK the redesignation.
