ATLANTA - The Atlanta Braves held a pregame ceremony Sunday in honor of 99-year-old fan Pearl Sandow, who will celebrate her 100th birthday Thursday. A statue of Sandow, shipped from the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York, was displayed before Atlanta played the San Diego Padres. She also was named team captain for the day. Sandow attended every Braves home game from 1966 until 1991.<br>

Sunday, she visited Turner Field for the first time since a fall 11 years ago that has kept her away. Though she uses a wheelchair now and lives in an assisted-living home in Canton, she still listens to her favorite team on the radio.
