ATLANTA - Atlanta is rolling out a new marketing initiative to attract more homosexual visitors.
Atlanta Convention and Visitors Bureau officials said Thursday that the city's new campaign - ``We're out to show you a good time!'' - will build on its established reputation as a place where gays and lesbians feel comfortable.
Tourism officials figure gay people, many of whom don't have children, have disposable income that could be well spent in Atlanta.
There are 15 million homosexuals in the United States with buying power of $450 billion, according to a report from Harris Interactive, Witeck-Combs and the Selig Center for Economic Growth at the University of Georgia.
The campaign initially will focus on the Atlanta Pride celebration in late June. More marketing pushes likely will focus on events like Hotlanta River Expo and the NCAA Women's Final Four.
Atlanta earned its gay-friendly reputation because of its large homosexual population, many businesses that target the community, homosexual elected officials and an Atlanta Pride parade that attracted 70,000 spectators last year.
