HARRISBURG, PENNSYLVANIA - The Pennsylvania Insurance Department has ordered the shutdown of a company that sold medical and hospitalization coverage to independent truckers and others in the transportation field.
The state said OTR. Truckers Association Incorporated, a Pennsylvania domestic company, and Over the Road Truckers Healthcare Fund of Georgia -- collectively known as OTR -- were never licensed or authorized to transact business in Pennsylvania.
Insurance Commissioner Diane Kiken said, ``We've closed down their operations in Pennsylvania because we believe they could do irreparable harm to consumers.''
At least 53 state residents participated in the OTR plan, which had offices in East Norriton and Plymouth Meeting, outside Philadelphia.
