Fire kills Columbus woman

COLUMBUS - An elderly blind woman died Friday morning when fire swept through her single-story home. <br> <br> Police said 71-year-old Leila Mae Dowdell was confined to a wheelchair and was found lying on the floor, leaning toward a bed in the front bedroom. <br> <br> Fire fighters responded to the blaze at about 10:30 a.m, after the fire had already cut through the home&#39;s roof. <br> <br> Columbus Fire Captain Greg Lang said an autopsy will be performed. It was unclear what caused the fire.
