Atlanta entrepreneurs acquire Suwanee Sports Academy

SUWANEE, Ga. - Suwanee Sports Academy,<br> a multi-sports and athletic training facility, with more than 100,000 square feet of activity space, today announces new changes in management, ownership, and operations. <br> <br> Taking over the Academy is ACS Athletics, L.L.C., a team of Atlanta-based entrepreneurs, who bring an aggressive capital structure, innovative new athletic programming, and decades of sports and management experience to the six-year old club.<br> <br> ACS&#39; plans, expected to be unveiled by the end of the 3rd quarter, include incremental changes in operations, extended operating hours, new incentives for both members and corporate affiliations, and a host of other innovative programs.<br> <br> John Thurston, a 30-year veteran of college athletic administration and coaching, is the Academy&#39;s new general manager. Previously, Thurston was head of the men&#39;s basketball team at Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey, Wingate University in North Carolina, and James Madison University in Virginia. From 1988 through 1997, Thurston was the Wingate University Director of Athletics, where during his tenure, his teams gained national acclaim in both athletic and academic success.<br> <br> The Suwanee Sports Academy, located in Gwinnett County, is one of the nation&#39;s largest indoor athletic facilities specializing in basketball and volleyball. <br> <br> Besides seven NBA-sized basketball courts, which can accommodate local, regional, and national sports tournaments.<br> <br>
