ATLANTA - The Georgia Department of Industry, Trade and Tourism said Thursday the state's floor-covering companies made 63 business deals worth a projected $21.8 million at a trade show in China last month.
Nine Georgia companies, plus the Dalton Floor Covering Marketing Association, participated in the Domotex Asia floor covering show, held in Shanghai.
Trade commissioner R.K. Sehgal said the Georgia contingent nearly doubled last year's sales of $11.8 million at the same show.
Sehgal said China's continued building boom has created a need for high-quality, imported carpet, tile and wooden floor products.
He attributed the sales growth to greater cooperation between state government and industry and increased activity at the show.
