DECATUR - Bond has been set at $100,000 for a DeKalb County mother accused of beating a teacher's aide with a cell phone.
At yesterday's Magistrate Court hearing, prosecutor Fatima Ziyad described Lalindus Cater, 41, as a flight risk, pointing out she didn't surrender to police, but was apprehended seven days after the attack.
Cater faces aggravated battery charges stemming from the March 27 attack on a first-grade teacher's aide. Police said Cater beat Dawn Martin, 43, with a cell phone and coffee mug in a classroom full of students at Canby Lane Elementary School.
Cater had said her daughter was spanked at the school. School officials and Martin have denied hitting the child.
Cater had been missing since March 27th.
