DOT worker struck and killed by asphalt truck

BALL GROUND - A Department of Transportation worker was killed and another was injured when they were hit by an asphalt truck. <br> <br> The truck crashed into the DOT survey team and overturned Friday afternoon. Danny Wilbanks of Chatsworth was killed, and Ben Winkler, also of Chatsworth, suffered injuries that were not life-threatening. <br> <br> The workers were examining a possible site to replace a bridge over the Etowah River in Cherokee County, DOT spokeswoman Kim Law said. The accident happened near the intersection of state routes 372 and 369, about four miles from Ball Ground.
