N.C. State beats No. 1 Clemson; ACC baseball roundup

CLEMSON, S.C. - North Carolina State's Mike Prochaska threw a shut out of top-ranked Clemson Tigers in a 3-0 game Saturday. <br>

N.C. State (21-12, 2-6 ACC) gave Clemson (26-2, 4-1 ACC) its first conference loss of the season. <br>
<br>
Prochaska (4-0) allowed four hits on the day while walking four and striking out six. Matt Henrie (6-1) picked up his first loss of the season for Clemson. <br>
<br>
Prochaska, who allowed only two runners to reach second base on the day. <br>
<br>
North Carolina State opened the scoring in the fourth inning as Brian Wright and David Hicks singled and advanced on a ground out. Wright scored on a ground out and Hicks came home on a Colt Morton double. <br>
<br>
A Matt Butler single in the eighth brought in Jeremy Dutton for the game's last score. <br>
<br>
Khalil Greene had two hits for the Tigers. <br>
<br>
The three-game series ends Sunday. Clemson took the first game 6-4 on Friday.<br>

N. CAROLINA 11, WAKE FOREST 8<br>

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest scored eight runs in the final four innings against North Carolina, but still lost 11-8 Saturday. <br>
<br>
The loss was the first for Wake Forest (24-6, 7-3 Atlantic Coast Conference) to North Carolina since 1999. <br>
<br>
The Tar Heels (22-10, 9-2) led 8-0 after four innings after back-to-back homers from Chad Prosser and Ron Braun. <br>
<br>
Ryan Hubbard knocked in four runs with a grand slam homerun in the sixth inning for Wake Forest. Wake added one in the seventh, two in the eighth and one in the ninth. <br>
<br>
Garry Bakker (4-1) got the win, going six innings and giving up four runs on five hits while striking out five and walking four. Brian Back allowed eight runs on six hits in 3 1/3 innings for the loss. He struck out one batter and walked four.
