CLEMSON, S.C. - Clemson's Spring Football game yielded 44 points for the offense as running back Chad Jasmin scored three touchdowns and receiver Airese Currie had 99 yards on three catches.

Jasmin, a junior from Louisiana, led the Tigers in yards per carry last year, and had 68 yards on 13 rushes.

Jasmin ``is rounding into form,'' head coach Tommy Bowden said.
Starting senior quarterback Willie Simmons hit on 13 of 25 passes for 198 yards and a touchdown. Simmons has two years of eligibility remaining after May graduation and led the number-one offense to three touchdowns and a pair of field goals.
It's the Tigers first spring after the amazing career of quarterback Woody Dantzler and they're finding new ways to run their offense.

Simmons ``came on strong after spring break,'' Bowden said. ``He had his best practice on Thursday, then looked strong throwing the ball today. He ran the ball well also,'' Bowden said.

``Those were not designed draw plays like we did with Woody, but he took advantage of some opportunities.''
Rising sophomore quarterback Charlie Whitehurst hit on 20-26 passes for 174 yards and led the number-two offense to two touchdowns and a field goal.
The defense had a solid outing.
John Leake, Clemson's leading returning tackler from last year, had 13 tackles, including 10 first hits. Mo Fountain had six tackles, including a pair of sacks. Eric Meekins had nine tackles and recovered a fumble. Todd McClinton had a fumble recovery, Toure Francis had an interception and Terrance Huey had a 52-yard interception return.

``I thought the defense played well,'' Bowden said. ``There were some hard hits out there.''

Over 8,000 fans showed up to see the 128-play scrimmage at Riggs Field. It was the first time Clemson has played on that turf since 1968. Clemson's Memorial Stadium is undergoing renovations
The real test for the Tiger's comes as Clemson faces Georgia in its season opener Aug. 31. In 1981, Clemson handed defending national champions Georgia a 13-3 loss the only regular season loss for the Bulldogs during Herschel Walker's three years and rolled to the ACC title.
The Tigers, 6-5 last year, went to the Humanitarian Bowl, beating Louisiana Tech 49-24.
