ATLANTA - Police say a man visiting a student apartment building at Clark Atlanta University was shot in the chest and hospitalized in critical condition. <br>

Three other people in the apartment at the Heritage Commons complex told police that the shot came through a window about five p-m yesterday, striking the victim. The victim has NOT been identified but reportedly is a male in his 20s. <br>

The apartment complex is gated and monitored, requiring a student I-D card for admittance. Although the victim was NOT a student, others were concerned for their safety at the private school, one of five historically black colleges that make up the Atlanta University Center. <br>

School officials cautioned that there will be some such incidents in any urban setting but pledged to ensure that they will make the campus as safe as possible.
