Holly Springs officer shoots man at convenience store

HOLLY SPRINGS - Police say a Holly Springs police officer shot and killed a man who fired at the officer first. <br> <br> The Cherokee County Police Department and Georgia Bureau of Investigation are investigating the shooting, which happened around 10:30 p.m. Monday at a gas station just off I-575. <br> <br> Holly Springs police Lieutenant Mike Mabrey says the officer was checking on a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot when a passenger, 43-year-old Kevin Koester Senior, pulled a gun and started firing. <br> <br> Koester was living in Cherokee County with his brother, Bill Koester. <br> <br> The officer, whose name is being withheld, was treated for some minor abrasions and released at Northside Cherokee Hospital.
