Officials say they have identified 141 bodies at Tri-State Crematory

NOBLE - Officials involved in recoverey of corpses at the Tri-State Crematory say they have identified 141 of the 339 bodies found. <br>

Walker County Emergency Management Director David Ashburn said families of the deceased met privately with recovery workers Wednesday to thank them. <br>
<br>
He said work is almost completed on a refrigerated building that will be used as a morgue for the unidentified remains while DNA testing continues. <br>
<br>
Georgia Emergency Management Director Gary McConnell said he is uncertain if the total cost of the recovery will be within the $8.5 million allocation that was included in Georgia's supplemental budget just approved by the legislature. <br>
<br>
McConnell described the episode in northwest Georgia as an American tragedy. <br>
<br>
The crematory operator, 28-year-old Ray Brent Marsh, remains in jail without bond. Marsh is charged with more than 200 counts of theft by deception for accepting money for cremations that were not performed.
