W.Hall/Johnson tie in Cup preview

OAKWOOD- They&#39;ll have to do this again it seems.<br> <br> In a preview for the battle for the Northeast Georgia Mountains Cup title, the West Hall and Johnson boys soccer teams battled to a 2-all tie at West Hall.<br> <br> The number six ranked Knights scored first on a Sergio Patino header. Jorge Amaya tied it before the half. Brent Staley gave the lead back to the Knights before West Hall&#39;s Kyle Kersey tied it with the final goal of the night.<br> <br> West Hall goalie Chris Smith and Johnson netminder Blake Abernathy helped their teams to the draw.<br> <br> West Hall senior Daniel Rohletter assisted on both Spartan goals.<br> <br> Johnson (9-2-2) is slated to host West Hall (9-4-1) at 7PM Saturday night.<br> <br> Both teams have other games scheduled before that one. Johnson is scheduled to host Fannin County Friday evening. West Hall is to play at Habersham Central.<br> <br> The West Hall girls (12-2) had opened the evening with a 4-1 win over the Lady Knights (5-8-1).<br> <br> Katie Wood and Jessica Williams had two goals each for the ninth-ranked Lady Spartans.<br> <br> Chrissy Gammon and Christen Bambrick both had an assist apiece.<br> <br> Blue Marshall saved a penalty kick in the second half, and got the win in goal.<br> <br> Fany Carillo scored Johnson&#39;s only goal.<br> <br> The Gainesville soccer teams split with South Forsyth in a Region 7-AAA battle Tuesday night. The GHS girls were beaten 5-2, but the fifth-rated Elephant boys posted a 2-nil shut out over the 10th-ranked War Eagle boys.<br> <br> Geoffrey del Forn was in goal for the blanking. Jamie Smithson scored one goal, and assisted on Baker Davenports insurance tally in the second half for Gainesville (9-4, 3-2 in 7-AAA).<br> <br> Gainesville is slated to host Shiloh Wednesday evening for girls&#39; and boys&#39; play.<br> <br> Elsewhere Tuesday, Lumpkin County&#39;s ninth ranked AA team walloped Fannin County 7-0.<br> <br> Dylan Caldwell and Will Maxwell scored twice for the Indians, while Jody Foster, Michael Lee, and Alan Schuetze tallied once each.<br> <br> Lumpkin (7-2-1) is slated to host North Forsyth Friday night.
