LAWRENCEVILLE - Court documents show that former Olympic gymnast Olga Korbut was allowed to enter a pre-trial diversion program rather than being prosecuted on misdemeanor shoplifting charges. <br>

The 46-year-old Korbut paid three-hundred, thirty dollars in program fees, completed a class in values and agreed to stay away from Publix grocery stores, the records show. <br>

Korbut was arrested January 31st and charged with stealing 19 dollars worth of goods from a Publix in Norcross. <br>
<br>
Korbut had claimed that she mistakenly left her wallet in her car and wheeled her shopping cart to the door of the store with intentions of returning to pay for the items. <br>
<br>
She gained fame as a pigtailed 17-year-old, grabbing three gold medals for the Soviet Union at the 1972 Olympics in Munich. She won a fourth gold medal at the 1976 Olympics in Montreal.
