Markswoman Jodie Briggs knows what a difference being just a little bit off can make. <br>

Briggs,a Johnson alumnae, who recently won the NRA's Intercollegiate Women's Air Pistol and Aggregate Championships in Atlanta, added a second place finish in Junior Olympic Competition at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado to her resume over the weekend. She missed out on first by less than two points.<br>

Briggs, a freshman at Truett-McConnell College in Cleveland, took the silver in the women's precision air pistol event in Colorado Springs at the USA Shooting 2002 event.<br>

Briggs totaled 816.4 out of a possible 909 points. The Champion was Mandy Genenbacher out of Bozeman, Montana, who was 1.6 points ahead of Briggs. Genenbacher won on the last shot of the 90-shot competition. The event featured the nation's top 22 shooters 20 years old and under.<br>

Briggs also picked up a fourth place in the .22 caliber sport pistol event on the women's side.<br>

She was named to the air and sport pistol 2202 All-Star teams. Briggs was one of two women named to the U.S. National Development Team for additional training and advancement opportunities. Father Joe Briggs noted that had been a four-year goal for his daughter.<br>

"She's real happy with that," Joe Briggs added.<br>

Jodie Briggs' next scheduled competition is in Atlanta May 12-15 at the U.S. Selection Matches. That event will determine the U.S. team for the World Championships to be held in Lahti, Finland in July.<br>
