CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - David Slevin's double scored the go-ahead run as top-ranked Clemson survived a North Carolina rally to beat the Tar Heels 11-7 in 10 innings Friday night. <br>

Slevin's hit off Michael Gross brought in Chad Coder to give the Tigers (29-3, 6-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) an 8-7 lead. Reliever Carter Harrell hit Jeff Baker and walked Michael Johnson to score two more runs. Khalil Greene came home on a sacrifice fly to complete the scoring. <br>

The Tar Heels (24-12, 9-4) trailed 7-4 in the seventh before a Jeremy Cleveland RBI-single got them within two. In the eighth, Chad Prosser scored on a Mell Adams sacrifice, and Russ Adams tied the game on a single that scored Chase Younts from third. <br>

Johnson and Greene each had three hits, and Collin Mahoney hit a home run for Clemson. <br>

Sean Farrell went 3-for-5 with a solo blast for North Carolina. <br>

Steven Jackson (4-1) earned the win for Clemson by keeping the Tar Heels hitless in the final 2-1/3 innings. <br>

Gross (3-2) took the loss in three innings of work, giving up four runs. <br>

The two teams resume their three-game series Saturday afternoon.
