Propeller business move to Georgia to cost 195 Ohio jobs

DAYTON, Ohio - McCauley Propeller Systems will move its operations from Dayton International Airport to Columbus, Ga., eliminating 195 local jobs. <br> <br> McCauley&#39;s parent, Cessna Aircraft Co., announced the move Monday. <br> <br> The company had informed employees of the decision on Friday, said Cessna spokeswoman Jessica Myers from Cessna&#39;s Wichita, Kan., headquarters. <br> <br> Myers said Cessna will ask 30 employees to relocate from the suburban Dayton plant and will offer job placement assistance to the remainder of the employees who are to be terminated. A date for the move has not been decided, she said. <br> <br> The move will eliminate one of the Dayton area&#39;s oldest aviation companies. Earnest G. McCauley founded the McCauley Aviation Corp. in 1938. Cessna Aircraft Co., which is now a division of Textron Inc., bought McCauley in 1961. <br> <br> The Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, which severely restricted aviation activities for months, and a generally weakened economy caused a slowdown in the the light airplane market, said Myers. <br> <br>
