HATTIEBSURG, MISSISSIPPI - Steve Gendron had four hits and a career-high five RBIs as Mississippi State pounded Southern Mississippi 19-2 on Tuesday night. <br>

It was the fifth win in the last six games for the Bulldogs (22-12-1), who close out their two-game series with the Golden Eagles (24-14) Wednesday night. <br>

Gendron singled in a pair of runs in the first inning as Mississippi State jumped out to a 3-0 lead against Southern Miss starter Stephen Castleman (2-2). <br>

Castleman gave up four hits and allowed six runs in 1 1-3 innings. <br>
<br>
Gendron singled in another run in the second, and doubled in two in a seven-run fifth that put the Bulldogs up 15-0. <br>
<br>
Jacob Blakeney (2-2) held the Golden Eagles to two hits over the first five innings. He allowed solo home runs to Allen Winningham in the sixth and Griff Israel in the seventh. <br>

Blakeney struck out five in seven innings. <br>
<br>
Jeff Lacher, a Hattiesburg native, pitched the final two innings for Mississippi State, striking out four. <br>
<br>
Matthew Maniscalco and Matthew Brinson had two hits and two RBIs each for the Bulldogs.
