Augusta man, 27, turns himself over to police

AUGUSTA - An Augusta man is in police custody Tuesday after surrendering to authorities Monday. <br> <br> Twenty-seven-year-old Rufus Owens Junior showed up at the Richmond County Law Enforcement Center just before 6 p-m. <br> <br> Richmond County Sheriff&#39;s Office Major Ken Autry said Owens was charged with murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and possession of a gun by a convicted felon. <br> <br> Officials said 26-year-old Anthony Campbell Junior was shot about 3 a-m Sunday in his Harford Street home and died a half-hour later at Medical College of Georgia Hospital. <br> <br> Owens is accused of getting into an argument with Campbell over a slumber party. Police said the daughter of Owens&#39; girlfriend was there and that Owens was angry because the girl was ill and he couldn&#39;t reach her parents. <br> <br> Police said Owens left but returned with a .380-caliber handgun and shot Campbell in the left arm and chest. <br> <br> No bond has been set.
