Georgia's Lopez gets U.S. Women's Open exemption

FAR HILLS, N.J. - Nancy Lopez - who announced last month that this will be her last full season on the LPGA Tour - has accepted a special exemption to play in the U.S. Women's Open. <br>

The Women's Committee of the U.S. Golf Association extended the invitation for Lopez to compete July 4-7 at Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kansas. <br>

It will be the 25th Open for the 45-year-old Lopez, who has never won but was a four-time runner-up. <br>
<br>
Lopez and her husband - former baseball player Ray Knight - have four children and live in Albany.
