STARKVILLE, Miss. - Brent Lewis went 3-for-4 and all nine starters for Mississippi State hit safely Wednesday night in the Bulldogs' 17-5 victory over West Alabama. <br>

Mississippi State (25-15-1) led only 4-2 after the top of the third inning, but the Bulldogs pounded the ball after the third. <br>

Mississippi State scored four unearned runs in the first inning off West Alabama starter Bo Edminston. <br>

West Alabama (18-32) scored two runs in the third to cut the lead to 4-2. That was as close as the score would get. <br>

Mississippi State erupted for five runs in the fourth inning, including two runs on a double by Matthew Brinson. <br>
<br>
J.B. Tucker, making his second career start as a catcher, belted a three-run homer in a four-run sixth for State. Tucker and Winston Pearson set career-highs with three-RBI nights. <br>

The game was the first meeting between the two schools since 1994. <br>

Ryan Carroll (2-0) worked five innings and picked up the win, allowing four runs on six hits. Edminston (2-5) gave up five runs, none of them earned, on five hits in three innings to take the loss.
