ATHENS - A deer wandered into an Athens supermarket Wednesday morning, trotting through two sets of automatic doors before making a wild dash for the dairy section.
Kroger assistant manager Kelley Minish said the doe vaulted over refrigeration units at the rear of the store before being intercepted by two employees near the meat department.
Meat market manager John Mobley grabbed the deer around the neck while co-worker Jerry Peterson snagged its rear legs. The two muscled the deer out the back door, and it scampered off.
Minish said if they hadn't grabbed the animal, there's no telling what it could have torn up.
