GAINESVILLE - Friends and family filled St. John Baptist Church in Gainesville Wednesday night to recall the life of Frances Meadows.
Gainesville and Hall County met as a community to honor and recall a friend.
Last night was a time for remembrance for a political, church and social leader.
Former Hall County Commission Chairman Brenda Branch Hayes said Meadows listened carefully to her constituents before making decisions.
Hall County's singing fire fighters sang for her and friends and loved ones paid her homage.
Commission Chairman Gary Gibbs said duty called her to her seat to vote on the local option sales tax agreement last week.
"She was at the meeting to cast the deciding vote two and a half days before she died," said Gibbs.
Gainesville Mayor Myrtle Figueras called Frances Meadows her great friend,recalling that they not only worked together in local government, but sang together at St. John Baptist Church.
As the memorial service began the audience heard a recording of "He's Working it Out", performed by the Angelic Voices of St. John Baptist Church.
One of the voices belonged to Frances Meadows.
Those who knew her and loved her clapped and cheered and sang along.
