STATESBORO - Bulloch County jail officials were forced to evacuate 100 inmates Thursday after tear gas used to subdue an unruly inmate drifted into the air conditioning system. <br>

Deputies were trying to control Jai Devon Lee after he kicked his cell door, destroyed lighting fixtures and threatened jailers. <br>

Male inmates were evacuated to the adjacent Bulloch Correctional Institute, while female inmates were taken to a training room with a separate air system. The evacuation lasted about three hours. <br>

It wasn't the first time Bulloch County authorities have dealt with Lee -- the 26-year-old has been jailed there 15 times in a decade. He was awaiting transfer to a state prison on a conviction of obstructing justice.
