KNOXVILLE, TENNESSEE - Tennessee pitcher Patrick Hicklen will have surgery on his right elbow and need at least a year to recover. <br>

Hicklen, a sophomore and co-captain, had an MRI on Tuesday that showed a torn ulnar collateral ligament. He will have Tommy John surgery to repair it on May 7, team officials said Thursday. <br>

Hicklen led the Volunteers (21-22) with a 5-3 mark while posting a 6.14 ERA in 55 2/3 innings. <br>

Tennessee's other co-captain, catcher Javi Herrera, was lost for the season after having surgery on his right shoulder earlier this month. <br>

Another pitcher, Erik Filsinger, will miss the rest of the season with a sore shoulder.
