DUBLIN - Twenty-year-old Kwame Brown of Brunswick, the number one pick of the 2001 NBA draft who now plays for Michael Jordan's team -- the Washington Wizards -- was pulled over Saturday for going 120 miles-per-hour in a 60 miles-per-hour construction zone.
According to Sergeant Kirk Hartwell of the Laurens County Sheriff's Department, Brown was driving a 2002 Mercedes S600.
Hartwell said Brown will automatically lose his license because of his age and the excessive speed he was traveling.
Hartwell also said if Brown had not willingly pulled over he might have easily outrun his patrol car. Hartwell said Brown's receipt for the Mercedes was still in the car and it sold for an excess of $129,000. Hartwell said the car could easily top the patrol car's top speed of about 140 miles-per-hour
Brown was drafted on June 28, 2001, and signed a three-year contract for $11.9 million with the Washington Wizards.
