Lockheed Martin to cut 400 jobs at missiles-space unit

SUNNYVALE, CALIFORNIA - Lockheed Martin Corporation said Monday that it will cut 400 jobs at its Missiles & Space Operations by the end of the year in an effort to improve its ``competitive posture.'' <br>

The company said the cuts will affect both technical and administrative positions at the defense contractor's Sunnyvale facilities. Additional cuts will likely occur through ``normal attrition.'' <br>
<br>
Lockheed's Missile & Space Operations employ 9,500 workers nationwide, with just under seven-thousand in the San Francisco Bay area, which encompasses Sunnyvale. <br>
<br>
Lockheed Martin, based in Bethesda, Maryland, had annual revenue of $23.99 billion last year.
