DULUTH - The Mobile Mysticks of the East Coast Hockey League plan to move to metro Atlanta, to play at Gwinnett County's Civic and Cultural Center when the regular season starts in mid-October 2003.
The minor league club will be the second professional hockey team in the Atlanta area, joining the Thrashers of the NHL.
``There's a vibrancy in the area. There's a newness and forward thinking attitudes,'' said Toby Jeffreys, one of three majority co-owners of the Mysticks.
The Mysticks are moving after seven seasons in Mobile, Ala. where attendance has dwindled to just over 2,600 last season. Jeffreys, who once owned a business in nearby Norcross, said he expects to sell more than 1,500 season tickets required by the ECHL.
