Pedestrian killed at Bike Week, bringing number of deaths at festival to nine

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Nine people died during this year's Bike Week festival, including a pedestrian who was hit and killed by a motorcycle over the weekend. <br>

Emergency workers responded to 69 crashes on Friday and Saturday alone, the most accidents EVAC Ambulance has responded to over two days at Bike Week in 21 years, said spokesman Mark O'Keefe. <br>

The ninth and final death during the event occurred after a man was hit crossing a busy intersection on Saturday night, police said. <br>
<br>
Bike Week is a 10-day festival in Volusia County that is among the biggest biker events in the nation. The festival began last Friday and ended Sunday. <br>
<br>
Fifteen motorcyclists were killed in traffic accidents during Bike Week 2000, while six people died last year. <br>
