ATLANTA - The outgoing director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has accepted an administrative position at Emory University.
The school said Monday that Doctor Jeffrey Koplan will become vice president for academic health affairs at Emory's Woodruff Health Sciences Center. He will begin April 22.
The 57-year-old Koplan resigned last month after four years as head of the CDC, the federal agency that was on the front lines of the anthrax-by-mail attacks last fall. Koplan's last day is Sunday, and no replacement has been named.
At Emory, Koplan will help plan research and academics at the university's medical, nursing and public health schools. He will also work with Emory Healthcare, a network of Atlanta-area clinics and hospitals.
