ATLANTA - A man facing charges of statutory rape and indecency to a minor has been apprehended for attacking his court-appointed attorney in Atlanta.
A spokesman for the Fulton County district attorney's office says Mark Easter began pummeling John Turner about 1 p.m. Thursday.
Sheriff's deputies subdued Easter and the lawyer was taken to a nearby hospital.
The spokesman says Easter was angry because he was not allowed to select a different lawyer.
Easter was in a courtroom near where the trial for Jamil Abdullah Al-Amin is being held. Deputies who are part of the extra security at that trial helped to subdue Easter.
