AUGUSTA - An auto shop owner who built a fence out of old car hoods is taking heat from neighbors and city zoning officials.
Jimmy Davison started stringing together the hoods a couple weeks ago around his undeveloped 4-acre property in west Augusta.
More than 20 mismatched car hoods some dented - many with peeling paint - are propped against a line of rope.
``I wanted a fence, and it's my damn land,'' he said.
Residents of nearby subdivisions want the hoods removed.
``It makes it look like a big junk pile, and I've got a feeling he's going to keep putting more hoods up there,'' said Lanny Terry, whose mother lives across the street from the property.
Davison received a notice Thursday from the city that he's in violation of the property's zoning laws. He has 10 days to respond before being cited.
