After Bryan Zech singled and advanced to second on a groundout to start the ninth, Rogers singled to center off of Gators reliever Jamie Goldfarb to give the Seminoles (16-4) the win. <br>

Florida threatened to send the game into extra innings but the Gators (11-1) failed to get a runner past second base in the ninth. Florida State reliever Eric Roman earned his seventh save of the year with a scoreless inning of work. <br>

Florida State reliever Kevin Lynch (1-0) picked up the win with 2/3 of an inning of work in the eighth. <br>

The loss by Florida snapped the Gators nine-game home winning streak and spoiled the best season start since 1989.
