ATLANTA - Coca-Cola chairman and chief executive Douglas Daft saw his salary increase 18 percent last year, with a compensation package that topped five million dollars and included a $500,000 jump in his annual bonus, which was $3.5 million. <br>

The 58-year-old Daft earned $1.5 million in salary and received almost $104,000 dollars from his use of company jets in 2001. The beverage giant also gave Daft one million shares of restricted stock, tied to the company's performance through March 2006. <br>

Daft, now in his third year as Coke's leader, ``demonstrated highly effective leadership and vision in a uniquely complex marketplace,'' the board wrote in Coke's proxy statement released Monday. <br>

In 2000, Daft earned about $4.4 million, including $1.26 million in salary and a three million dollar bonus.
