Daft's salary increases 18 percent at Coke

ATLANTA - Coca-Cola chairman and chief executive Douglas Daft saw his salary increase 18 percent last year, with a compensation package that topped five million dollars and included a $500,000 jump in his annual bonus, which was $3.5 million. <br> <br> The 58-year-old Daft earned $1.5 million in salary and received almost $104,000 dollars from his use of company jets in 2001. The beverage giant also gave Daft one million shares of restricted stock, tied to the company&#39;s performance through March 2006. <br> <br> Daft, now in his third year as Coke&#39;s leader, ``demonstrated highly effective leadership and vision in a uniquely complex marketplace,&#39;&#39; the board wrote in Coke&#39;s proxy statement released Monday. <br> <br> In 2000, Daft earned about $4.4 million, including $1.26 million in salary and a three million dollar bonus.
