GAINESVILLE- The Ivey-Watson baseball tournament continues Friday evening as the defending AA Champion Cartersville joins the field.<br>

The Purple Hurricanes are scheduled to take on Buford at 5, and Johnson at 7:30.<br>

North Forsyth (2-0) edged West Hall 1-0 Thursday night.<br>

Gainesville and East Hall have also chalked up wins in the seven-team round-robin tournament. Sixteen tournament games reportedly remain. More games will be played Saturday.<br>

Gainesville , the defending AAA Champions are reported ranked number one in that class by the Georgia Dugout Club, and are #15 nationally by the 2002 Baseball Coaches Association Preseason Top 50. The Red Elephants finished 46th in that poll last season. The March edition of Student Sports Magazine has Gainesville rated 45th.<br>

Gainesville 3B/Pitcher Micah Owings has another honor. In addition to earlier plaudits as one of the top players in the country, he has been named a second-team preseason All-American by School Sports Magazine. He was a team leader for the Elephants at the plate and on the mound during their State Championship run last season.<br>

The North Hall Trojans (1-0) play next in the Georgia Dugout Tournament Friday night at North Hall against Osborne out of Cobb County.<br>

In other Friday baseball, Riverside is to host Tallulah Falls; Jefferson is set to host Georgia Military; North Gwinnett is to play at South Forsyth; while North Forsyth is scheduled at Hart County in the Hart Tournament.<br>
