VALDOSTA - Wild Adventures theme park in south Georgia plans to double attendance in five years with a major expansion, adding rides, shows and two new theme areas.
Kent Buescher -- president and founder of Wild Adventures -- said yesterday that the park will be five in one -- an amusement park, an animal park, an entertainment park and -- with two additional areas -- a challenge park and a water park,'' Buescher said.
The challenge park, Adventure Quest, will be a five-acre family park built where an employee parking area is currently located at the park, four miles off Interstate 75 not far from the Florida line.
Buescher said Splash Mountain, a 15-acre water park ``will have a rain-forest wet play area, a lazy river with rapids, water slides and a wave pool.''
Buescher said Wild Adventures will add seven rides to its current 46. He predicted the park's attendance, which began at 100-thousand in 1996, will top two (m) million by 2007.
