ATLANTA - Two men have been sentenced to prison in one of the biggest robberies in state history - $3.9 million from an armored car company.

Frank Delarosa, 29, received 12 years in prison Friday and Lenny Pinto, 20, was sentenced to eight years for breaking into BANTEK Armored Car Service and stealing the money from the company's vault on Aug. 22.

``It just seems that both of you did a really dumb thing,'' U.S. District Judge Julie Carnes told the men.

Delarosa had been fired from BANKTEK two years ago. He cut a hole in the roof of BANKTEK's Atlanta building, then he and Pinto dropped through and held up the business as it prepared to close for the night.

While Delarosa held his former co-workers at gunpoint with an AK-47, Pinto used a dolly to cart off four bags of money weighing more than 150 pounds each. Several employees recognized Delarosa's voice when he ordered them to lie down.

Authorities recovered about $250,000 that was dumped in a field about a quarter-mile away because the men could not move all of the cash.

Six weeks later, the FBI found almost all of the remaining money buried outside Delarosa's Ellijay home. They recovered all but about $256,000, said FBI Special Agent Jeff Holmes.
