MACON - Tramaine Aaron hit a 55-foot shot at the end of the first quarter and Wheeler won the Class AAAAA boys state championship, beating Lakeside-DeKalb 69-55 in the title game Saturday. <br>

Wheeler (27-3) led from the middle of the first period and built a 13-point edge with a 9-2 run in the third period. The margin was seven before the Wildcats put the game away with an 8-0 spurt midway through the fourth. The Wildcats' biggest lead came at 64-46 on a three-point play by Muhammad Abdur-Rahim. <br>

Wheeler won the Class AAAA title in 1994. <br>

The game was interrupted with 1:50 left when Lakeside fans threw ice and candy onto the court in protest of an official's call. <br>

Quennell Green scored 13 and Abdur-Rahim 11 for Wheeler, while Richarde McCray had 10. <br>

Anthony Register scored 15 and Kori Searcy 10 for Lakeside (27-6).
