MACON - Marian Whitfield scored 15 of her 20 points in the second half and Glenn Hills withstood Hephzibah's third-quarter surge, winning 66-46 in the Class AAAA girls state championship Saturday. <br>

Glenn Hills (31-2) trailed 33-32 late in the third period after leading by as many as eight in the first half. Felicia Whitley scored to give the Lady Spartans the lead, starting an 8-0 run that put them ahead for good. <br>

Glenn Hills, which beat Hephzibah (23-6) for the fourth time this season, led 40-33 at the end of the quarter, and after a 3-pointer by Hephzibah's Jacquelyn Nelson cut the lead to five, the Lady Spartans embarked on a 15-2 run to finish it. <br>

Tyhiesha Smith scored 19 for Glenn Hills, which won its first state title. <br>

Nelson finished with 20 and Tamara Gilyard 15 for Hephzibah.
