Soccer Cup underway

OAKWOOD- The 19th Annual Northeast Georgia Mountains Tournament Cup soccer matches got underway Monday with girls&#39; play.<br> <br> Lakeview Academy blanked Habersham Central 2-nil. Erica Breedlove had a goal for the Lady Lions, and Lisa McMahan scored on an assist from Jessica Moses.<br> <br> Amey Coleman recorded the shut out in goal for the Lions who will face Johnson in tourney play Thursday. Lakeview has a Tuesday non-tourney game scheduled at Union County.<br> <br> Host West Hall opened their part of the Cup Tournament with a 7-2 win over Stephens County.<br> <br> Jessica Williams had a hat trick for the Lady Spartans, while Christen Bambrick, Chrissy Gammon, Megan Ozaki, and Ashley Parker added a goal each in the win. Tara Huffman and Parker had two assists. Gammon had one, along with Katie Wood.<br> <br> West Hall (7-1) is rated 9th in the AAAA rankings, and is scheduled to play the triple-A number nine team, Winder-Barrow Thursday at 5:30 in Cup play.<br> <br> Tournament play Tuesday matches Johnson and Habersham Central.<br> <br> Elsewhere, in another girls&#39; non-tourney match, Dawson County zapped East Hall 8-0.<br> <br> In boys&#39; play in Atlanta, Gainesville goalie Geoffrey del Forn recorded a shut out, and Edward Puckett&#39;s goal proved to be the difference in the GHS 1-0 win over Greater Atlanta Christian. <br> <br> The 5th-ranked Gainesville boys (5-2) are slated to play at Monroe Area Thursday after the GHS/Monroe girls play, starting at 5PM.<br> <br> In Tuesday boys&#39; play the schedule calls for<br> Riverside hosting Forsyth Central as well as Johnson/North Forsyth at Allen Creek; and Habersham/North Hall at Habersham.<br> <br>
