Authorities rule arson in Charlton County church fire

ATLANTA - A fire at the Greater St. Peter's United Assembly of God Holiness Church was ruled arson Thursday by state Insurance Commissioner John Oxendine, Folkston police and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. <br>

Authorities said the fire was set yesterday afternoon. Oxendine said no one was inside the church at the time, but there was damage estimated at $50,000 to the sanctuary and front lobby. <br>

It was the second time in seven weeks that the church, located near the Florida line in southeast Georgia, has been the victim of arson. The first fire caused minor damage. Both blazes remain under investigation.
