GAINESVILLE - Residents of the Newtown community on the south side of Gainesville aren't buying the results of a new federal air study.
Researchers said Thursday night the neighborhood boasts Hall county's highest pollution because of car and truck emissions - not because of nearby industrial plants.

Some Newtown residents, such as Mozetta Wilson, say one problem with the study is that an air monitor - used to gather data - is located at Fair Street school and not in Newtown.
Residents had long contended industrial plants were contaminating the air and causing health problems.

Researchers say they have recommended that the monitor be moved
Researchers also agree it may be difficult to track the health issues since neighboring industrial plants including Con-Agra and Cargill weren't required to monitor emissions until 1986.
